DON’T GIVE UP YET

Hello everyone. I want to thank you for the support shown to the guest writers we had here last month. Allow me to use this opportunity to also apologise for not writing anything last month, I’m currently in the middle of several positive things, will be back soon. So, today Douglas Oyahire returns. Enjoy.

At some point in the various journeys we embark on in our lives, we get to a part where we feel like giving up. Sometimes we give up before we even start and other times we give up just before we are about to make that huge breakthrough that we have been putting so much effort in to achieve.

Don’t let anyone deceive you that life is going to be a smooth ride all the way. Frankly speaking we all have the potential to overcome every obstacle that comes our way in life. People tend to give up over countless reasons in life, some give up because they lost a loved one, some because of peer pressure, others because of a hard boss, lack of motivation, or a failed relationship. Irrespective of what your reason might be, never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way.

The Bible says “for the righteous falls seven times and rises again,” yet most people don’t feel like getting up after one little knockdown. Your life might not be all rosy now, or your dreams don’t seem to unfold yet, keep trying, soon you’ll strike gold. Think of all the famous people you know, most of them didn’t even get the good chances you have or get a good education as you do or even have access to basic amenities but they never despaired.

Never think your life is too bad, there are so many people you’ll wish not to be in their shoes. The sting of rejection might be bitter but it is a necessary step to triumph, even the best have been told they aren’t good enough. We all should learn to persevere and adapt, it is one of the most important skills you can have. And it’s just that, a skill. Like any other skill in the world, you might be born with a more natural ability to persevere than others, but you can learn to stick with things and persevere if you really want to. In fact, the one thing that sets people I know who succeed in the long run apart from the people who don’t is the ability to persevere, to keep going and to never give up.

Have you seen the movie “The Pursuit of Happiness”? It is based on the life of Chris Gardener, a man who went from the lowest of the lows in an environment where most people would give up (a man with no money and no job) to the highest of the highs (a millionaire with his own investment firm). If you ever think about giving up, watch this movie! You can hold on to this word from God in 1Corinthinas 10:13 that:
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, WHO WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO BE TEMPTED BEYOND WHAT YOU ARE ABLE, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” It makes me conclude that you were given this life because you are strong enough to live it, despite all the odds that make it look like its more than you can bear.

Success is a must, don’t negotiate that. Give thanks for what you have today and something better will come next. There’s hope for you as long as you still have breath. Don’t despair. Persevere. Push a little more. Just don’t give up yet.
